What Are the Main Components of Black Fused Alumina Powder?

Main Components of Black Fused Alumina Powder

Black fused alumina powder is a new environmentally friendly material, mainly used for free grinding, such as polishing and coarse grinding before electroplating of products. It is primarily used for polishing and sandblasting stainless steel, metal products, optical glass, bamboo and wood products. It is also a novel abrasive for making resin grinding wheels, cutting discs, and abrasive cloth. The smelting method of black fused alumina powder is basically the same as that of brown fused alumina powder.

The production method involves selecting high-quality bauxite, iron oxide, and other raw materials, adding other trace elements, and meticulously smelting them in a dumping-type electric arc furnace. This ensures that the bulk black fused alumina powder produced is all of first-grade quality, with few impurities, high grade, and stable quality. This lays the foundation for the production of medium-hard, tough, and excellently stable performance segments of sand, granular sand, and micro powder.

Black Fused Alumina Powder VS. Brown Fused Alumina Powder

The raw materials for brown fused alumina powder production are high-alumina bauxite, iron filings, and carbon; the raw materials for black fused alumina powder are high-iron bauxite, high-iron bauxite mixed with high-alumina bauxite, scrap materials from brown fused alumina powder production, and recycled high-alumina refractory materials. From the perspective of raw materials, considering the decreasing resource availability of high-alumina bauxite in reality, the raw material sources for black fused alumina powder are more extensive compared to brown fused alumina powder. This expands the utilization range of mineral resources and promotes the recycling of scrap materials and natural resources.

The production process difference between brown fused alumina powder and black fused alumina powder shows that, compared to brown fused alumina powder, the gas emissions from the reduction reaction during the production of black fused alumina powder are minimal. The electric consumption for melting black fused alumina powder is only about 50% of that for brown fused alumina powder, and the energy consumption is lower, significantly reducing the dust and gas emissions from electrical energy production. Therefore, compared with brown fused alumina powder, black fused alumina powder is more energy-saving, environmentally friendly, low-carbon, and is an eco-friendly product.

Performance of HAOYUN's Black Fused Alumina Powder

Black fused alumina powder, also known as low-alumina corundum powder, is a gray-black crystalline substance made by smelting bauxite in an electric arc furnace, with α- Al2O3 and iron spinel as the main mineral phases. Its characteristics include a lower Al2O3 content and a certain amount of Fe2O3 (about 10%), giving it moderate hardness, high toughness, high-temperature resistance, and stable thermal performance. It is mainly used for free grinding, such as polishing and coarse grinding before electroplating of products, and is primarily used for polishing and sandblasting stainless steel, metal products, optical glass, and bamboo and wood products. It is also a novel abrasive for making resin grinding wheels, cutting discs, and abrasive cloth.
